Journalist Don Pugnetti Jr will speak to us about his book, “A Coat Dyed Black”. This historical novel tells the story of a young farmer who transforms into a courageous resistance fighter during Nazi Germany’s five-year occupation of Norway. Based on true events and the real experiences of family members, it details the brutal, oppressive tyranny of that time.
Don completed the book after retiring from his 42-year career in journalism, and the book has garnered critical recognition, including:
- Finalist, 2023 Pacific Northwest Writers Association’s Nancy Pearl Book Award
- A Kirkus Reviews’ Best 100 Books of 2022
- 2021 PNWA Literary Contest Finalist in Historical Fiction
