The speaker for this Zoom meeting is Abdirizak Inshar, who immigrated to the U.S. from Somalia in 2023. He is the recipient of a McCarthy Bridge to College Success Grant at Renton Technical College. His decision to leave Somalia was shaped in part by the desire to live free from the constant threat of violence, intimidation, and death. His journey took him through Somalia, Kenya, Turkey, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico, before he reached the United States. Come and listen to his remarkable story of the perils, challenges, and uncertainties of his journey as an asylum-seeker.
