Join us in hearing from Dale Bateman, Associate Dean of Seattle Maritime Academy. A native of Salem, Oregon, Dale began his maritime career in the Coast Guard, retiring at the rank of Commander. During his 22-year career, CDR Bateman served aboard a variety of ships, sailing throughout the world. Additionally, he taught both navigation and ethics at the US Coast Guard Academy. While working as a director at the Maritime Institute of Technology, he led the creation of two apprenticeship programs, including the Washington State Ferries Mate Apprenticeship program.
